Recently, the UK has been actively promoting the construction of electric vehicle charging stations. The government has announced that it will accelerate the pace and plans to achieve nationwide charging network coverage by 2030.

By the end of 2024, there were over 72,000 public charging stations in the UK, with a vehicle-to-charging station ratio of approximately 20:1. However, the distribution was uneven - London accounted for 30% of the total, while the coverage in rural areas was less than 10%.

The acceleration in the construction of charging stations is actually directly related to the UK's policy of banning the sale of fuel vehicles. The pure electric vehicle penetration rate in the UK is 20.69%, and the plug-in vehicle penetration rate is 9.58%. It ranks third among European countries. The UK does not intend to follow the EU's example and does not plan to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. According to the regulations, from 2030, it will no longer be allowed to sell new gasoline and diesel vehicles. Calculating the time, there are only five years left until this deadline. The charging facilities cannot lag behind.

The construction of EV charging stations may seem like a technical task, but it actually involves a wide range of aspects. For instance, land approval, power expansion, safety standards, payment systems, and so on. Each of these aspects could potentially become a "roadblock". The British government has now formed a dedicated cross-departmental working group to coordinate these matters.
